(Just a note - you will not get bacon at breakfast as the majorty of Egyptians are Muslim) and all of the resturant staff and bar staff are very friendly. The food was very nice everyday at breakfast, lunch and dinner. I really can't see why other holiday makers did not enjoy their time here. I was quite nervous before I arrived after reading some of the un-fair reviews of this hotel. We have just come back from 2 weeks at the Sunrise Crystal bay in Hurghada. We'd go back to Egypt, but definitely not this hotel because of it's poor facilities. I felt sorry for them working for such a poor hotel. The best thing about this hotel is the staff - they were really welcoming and friendly. They never once bothered asking if anyone wanted to join in any activities. The pool at Crystal Bay is freezing - management told us they were installing heating for next year. I had to plead to be allowed to walk along at 4pm one day, saying that we were considering booking a holiday there. To me a beachfront is something enjoyable to stroll along, dip your toes in and swim! The hotels on either side are both true beachfront, but the security guards prevent you from using these beaches. What you really get is a man-made pit filled with various types of rubble and rubbish that passes off as a lagoon. Our biggest complaint - and this is against First Choice - who inaccurately described this as a beachfront hotel. We have just returned from a week (thank goodness). A great holiday but maybe a different hotel purely down to the food!!! Could not fault service or any other facilities. especially the kebabs they carve off in front of you!! i mist say we both were ill towards the end and knew of people having medical treatment due to what they said was the food. although a great variety and gorgeous bread. The events held on the private beach although a charge was put on them they are well worth it, you got to ride camels and my traveling companion got involved in what i can only call a freak show haha (she had to stand on a mans back whilst he was laying on glass etc). plus a photography team on hand and photos were not expensive and a lovely gift. was always a laugh) and the facilities of the hotel were fantastic always clean.
I found the entertainment team fantastic (they were willing to take people out of the hotel after their shifts to go clubbing in hurgarda itself. Was worried prior to going as reviews not so great. Cairo trip well worth doing, expensive and long winded to get there but a great experience and you can't go to egypt and not see the pyramids. The overall holiday was good, a great experience.
